I’m an absolute salsa fanboy, and this Homemade Blender Salsa has to be one of my new favourites. I love a jarred salsa, and a fresh pico de gallo, and this kind of mixes the both. Get your chips and tacos ready, it’s salsa time!

Homemade Blender Salsa – Easy as it comes. 

This is one of those recipes that is just too simple not to make. If you have a decent sized food processor or blender, making it in one large batch is going to produce the best results. 

We don’t want to use a high powered blender, we want there to be nice chunks throughout the salsa. If you were to use a high powered blender, you might end up making a puree. 

If you have neither of those, a hand blender will work just as fine!

Homemade Blender Salsa – Kick it up a notch. 

I’m a fan of spicy salsa, but my daughters… not so much. 

If you want to add a bit of heat, remove only half of the seeds from the jalapeno. The seeds are where the vast majority of the heat is stored. 

Another way to amp up your salsa is to add canned chipotle in adobo. It’s a spicy pepper that comes in this super rich, smoky adobo sauce that is going to jack up the heat and flavour of anything you put it in.

Storing your favourite salsa.

Once you make your fresh salsa, you’ll want to keep it stored in an airtight container and in the fridge. 

There is some acid from the lime, but not enough to preserve it for more than 4-5 days.

  • 1 28oz can Diced Tomato
  • 1 Roma Tomato diced
  • 1/2 White Onion diced
  • 1 Garlic Clove
  • 1 Jalapeno seeded
  • 2/3 cup Cilantro
  • 1 Lime zested and juiced
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 tsp Kosher Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder


  • Into the bowl of a food processor add in 1 can of diced tomato, 1 diced roma tomato, ½ a diced white onion, 1 clove of garlic, 1 seeded jalapeno, ⅔ cup of fresh cilantro, the juice and zest of 1 lime, 1 tbsp of olive oil, 2 tsp of kosher salt, 1 tsp of black pepper and 1 tsp of garlic powder.
  • Pulse your blender or food processor until chunky, and all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  • Serve with tortilla chips, nachos, eggs or anything else!
