Lebanese Mezze Plate

Hi! I’m Andy

Welcome to my kitchen.
I hope to inspire you to grow as a home cook!

We are lucky here in Nova Scotia to have a strong Lebanese community. Their impact on our city and our food is enormous. Heck, the official dish of Halifax is the Donair! I love the flavours of the food; garlic, lemon, olive oil. Everything is so fresh, bright, and delicious!

This plate is my nod to the Lebanese influence on East Coast food. This is the type of dish you really could eat every week. It’s healthy, quick to make, and packs a huge amount of flavour.

Instructions:

  • Let's get started with the tabouli. Okay, first things first; we are going to want to roughly chop the parsley & mint. Take your time here as you aren’t going to want big leaves of herbs while eating, so try to get it chopped fairly finely. Add to a large bowl.
  • Next up, add in the tomatoes, cucumbers, garlic, lemon juice, pickles, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix salad together and taste for seasoning. Need more salt? Lemon juice? Feel free to adjust to your taste!
  • On to the Kofta. I really hope this becomes a week night staple in your house. I love this mixture. Okay, let’s start. In a bowl add beef and rest of the ingredients. Using your hands or a spatula, mix everything together.
  • Form tube shaped “patties”. You can also press meat onto wooden skewer if you plan on using your barbeque.
  • Turn pan or grill to medium high. Once temperature has been reached, add kofta and sear on each side. This will take 5-7 minutes total.
  • Remove from grill and let rest for 3 minutes.
  • Lastly, the yogurt sauce. Add all ingredients to a small bowl and mix. Boom! You are good to go!
