Welcome to my kitchen. I hope to inspire you to grow as a home cook!

Something about a hot bowl of soup just hits differently when the weather cools down. When that soup contains tender gnocchi, savory chicken sausage, and a creamy tomato broth, you find it hard to resist.

This Chicken Sausage Gnocchi Soup is a perfect hearty meal. Making it is simple, incredibly filling, and bursting with flavor. Whether you are preparing meals for the week or want something warm on a cold night, this dish is perfect for you.

This soup brings together the best of both worlds: the richness of chicken sausage and the pillowy softness of gnocchi. What’s great is that you can use store-bought gnocchi to make things super simple. Plus, it’s a one-pot wonder, meaning less time cleaning up and more time enjoying the comforting flavors. Let’s dive into what makes this gnocchi soup a must-try for your next meal.

Why You’ll Love This Chicken Gnocchi Soup

This chicken sausage gnocchi soup is the ultimate comfort food. With its creamy base, vibrant vegetables, and hearty bites of gnocchi and sausage, it’s a meal that satisfies on all levels. Here’s why this dish is going to become a regular in your kitchen rotation:

  • Meal Prep Friendly: This soup is perfect for making ahead and enjoying throughout the week. It stores beautifully in the fridge, and the flavors only get better as they sit. You can reheat it easily, and it’s just as delicious the next day. You’ll love having a batch of this chicken gnocchi soup ready to go for lunches or quick dinners.
  • Hearty and Filling: Between the toasted gnocchi and the savory chunks of chicken sausage, this soup will keep you full and satisfied. The mix of vegetables, sausage, and gnocchi offers a nice balance of textures and flavors. The cream adds richness, making each bite feel special.
  • Easy to Make: This chicken and gnocchi soup tastes like it has been cooking for hours, but it comes together fast. You can even make shortcuts by using store-bought gnocchi and pre-cooked chicken sausage. A perfect option for a busy weeknight when you want something comforting without spending hours in the kitchen exists.
  • Customizable: One of the things I love about this gnocchi soup is how easily you can adapt it. Want to spice things up? Throw in some extra red pepper flakes.
  • Prefer more veggies? Add in some kale or extra spinach. The creamy tomato base and tasty sausage can take many different add-ins. So, feel free to try your favorites.

The Magic of Gnocchi

Let’s discuss the star of this soup: gnocchi. These little potato pillows are soft, chewy, and perfect for soaking up the delicious flavors of the broth. Toasting the gnocchi before adding it to the soup is a great way to add some extra texture and flavor. It helps the gnocchi hold its shape and gives it a slightly crispy exterior, which contrasts beautifully with the creamy soup.

Using store-bought gnocchi makes this recipe quick and easy, but if you’re feeling adventurous, you can always make your own. The gnocchi soaks up the savory broth. This creates perfect bite-sized pieces of comfort that make the dish satisfying.

A Creamy, Flavorful Broth

The base of this chicken and gnocchi soup is a rich, creamy broth that’s packed with flavor. We begin with chicken stock and crushed tomatoes.

This mix gives the soup a rich, savory flavor. The tomatoes add a touch of sweetness. The cream ties it all together, making the broth velvety smooth.

The addition of leeks, onions, and garlic brings a fragrant depth of flavor that makes the soup feel cozy and warm. These fragrant vegetables cooked in olive oil form the base of the soup. When you add the sausage, it creates a perfect mix of savory and sweet.

For a little bit of heat, you can throw in some red pepper flakes, but that’s totally optional. The chicken sausage already adds plenty of flavor, but if you like your soups with a bit more kick, don’t hold back on the spice.

Chicken Sausage for a Savory Kick

The addition of chicken sausage gives this soup a hearty, protein-packed boost. The sausage adds a savory, slightly spicy element that complements the creamy broth and tender gnocchi perfectly. It also cooks quickly, making this soup a great choice for busy weeknights. You can enjoy great flavor even when you’re short on time.

You can pick your favorite type of chicken sausage. It can be a classic Italian style or a spicier option. Make sure to take the sausage out of the casing before you brown it in the pan. This helps it break into bite-sized pieces that are easy to scoop up with the gnocchi.

How to Serve This Chicken Gnocchi Soup

This chicken sausage gnocchi soup is the kind of dish that stands on its own. Filling, hearty, and loaded with flavor. To complete the meal, serve it with warm, crusty bread or a simple side salad. This will keep things light and fresh.

For garnishes, I love adding a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese and a few extra red pepper flakes for heat. To make it special, add a drizzle of olive oil. A handful of fresh herbs, like basil or parsley, will also enhance this soup.

This Chicken Sausage Gnocchi Soup is everything you want in a cozy, comforting dish. Easy to make, full of flavor, and perfect for meal prepping or serving up on a cold evening. Toasted gnocchi, savory chicken sausage, and creamy broth come together to make a soup that is hearty and satisfying. Also, it is incredibly delicious.

Whether you’re planning your weekly meal prep or just looking for something quick and easy for dinner, this gnocchi soup is a winner. Give it a try, and let me know what you think—this is one recipe you’ll come back to again and again!

This was great and easy to make. It is now in the rotation. I made a double batch to freeze some but it was eaten before it made it to the freezer. Added a little wine and used kale because I was trying to use it up.
