Why You’ll Love These Cinnamon Sugar Protein Donuts

If you’re like me, you probably have a soft spot for donuts. But traditional donuts, while delicious, aren’t exactly the best option to have daily.

That’s where these Protein Donuts come in. Made with Greek yogurt and packed with protein, these donuts are a perfect treat for those looking to indulge without the guilt. Plus, they’re air-fried, which means you get that crispy exterior and soft, fluffy interior without all the extra oil.

How to Make Cinnamon Sugar Protein Donuts

These donuts are incredibly easy to make. Just follow these simple steps:

  1. To make the dough, mix Greek yogurt, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, sweetener, and olive oil in a big bowl. Mix until you get a smooth, thick dough.
  2. Shape the Donuts: Scoop small portions of the dough and roll them into balls.
  3. Air Fry the Donuts: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the donut balls in the air fryer basket, making sure they’re not touching each other. Air fry for 12 minutes, or until the donuts are golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Prepare the Coating: While the donuts are air frying, mix together the sweetener, cinnamon, and salt in a shallow bowl.
  5. Coat the Donuts: Once the donuts are done, remove them from the air fryer and let them cool slightly. While they’re still warm, roll each donut in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  6. Serve and Enjoy:

Tips for the Perfect Cinnamon Sugar Protein Donuts

  • Don’t Overmix: When combining the ingredients for the dough, mix just until everything is incorporated. Overmixing can lead to tough donuts.
  • Use Fresh Baking Powder: To ensure your donuts rise properly and have a light, fluffy texture, make sure your baking powder is fresh.
  • Experiment with Sweeteners: Feel free to use your preferred sweetener. Stevia, erythritol, or even a touch of honey can work well in this recipe.
  • Serve Warm: These donuts are best enjoyed warm, right out of the air fryer. If you have leftovers, you can reheat them in the air fryer for a few minutes to regain that fresh-from-the-fryer crispness.

Why Air Fry donuts?

Air frying these protein donuts not only makes them healthier but also gives them that perfect crispy texture. The air fryer cooks donuts evenly with hot air, creating a golden brown exterior without using oil. Here is the air fryer I use!

These Cinnamon Sugar Protein Doughnuts are perfect for breakfast, a post-workout snack, or even a sweet treat after dinner. They’re also a great option for meal prep—just make a batch and store them in an airtight container for up to a week. Whenever you need a quick and healthy snack, just grab one and enjoy!
