Let’s Breakdown the Ingredients for these Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies
You’re probably wondering how to make these tasty double chocolate chunk cookies. Here is how I made the best batch of chocolatey cookies you’ll ever have!
When making cookies, you usually start by slowly adding each ingredient to the batter. For this recipe, you will start by combining sugar, softened butter, and melted chocolate chips.
Sugar adds sweetness to the cookies and also gives them colour by caramelizing. Softened butter helps cream all of the other ingredients together, which allows small air pockets to form within the dough. The melted chocolate chips will give the cookies a rich and deep chocolate flavour.
In the next part, you will need to add your wet ingredients– eggs and vanilla. While eggs have great nutritional value, such as protein and vitamins, they provide structure for the cookies. Vanilla adds a sweet and warm flavour to the baked goods, and it makes a wonderful aroma when baking.
Last but not least, incorporating the dry ingredients into the batter creates a firmer structure for the cookies. Flour is a basic ingredient needed to make cookies since it helps build a structure for baked goods. Cocoa powder in this recipe is specifically important to help make this double chocolate chunk cookie, it adds a rich chocolate flavour.
Salt is important to help balance all the sweet flavours with a bit of a salty taste. Baking powder helps inflate the cookies to give a fluffy texture, while baking soda adds a chewy texture. And you cannot forget the choice of adding chocolate chips or chunks for another boost of chocolate in these cookies.
