Nut free Energy Bites (School safe)
I am always trying to find new and exciting ideas for things to put into my daughters lunch bag. The daily grind of packing lunches is real and I am searching for anyway to make the task easier. These school safe energy bites are SLAMMED with load of energy and just enough sweetness to trick your kids into eating them!
How are they school safe?
Most schools will not allow any tree nuts to be packed into a kids lunch box. As such, instead of using a nut butter as a binder in these energy bites I used tahini. Tahini is a middle eastern ingredient that is made of ground sesame seeds. This is a great, healthy ingredient, that works great as a binder!
Let’s breakdown the ingredients!
I am always trying to sneak as much nutrition into my daughters lunches. These energy bites have loads of natural protein and calorie dense ingredients such as oats, chia seeds, hemp hearts, ground flax seeds, tahini, and coconut. To amp up the flavouring I added vanilla, maple syrup, salt, and smarties. Feel free to add in sprinkles, chocolate chips, or anything that will increase the chances of your kids enjoying these! Can you tell I have a picky eater on my hands? lol
These energy bites are a great thing to pop into a lunch box for kid or they are also as amazing for adults. My wife and I love having one of these in the morning with our coffee to kick start our day!
Storing these energy bites
As soon as I am done making these energy bites, I store them in an air tight container. They can remain room temperature, but I prefer to store them in the fridge to have them last longer. You can easily also pop them in the freezer if you wanted to make a double batch!

Thank you! I’ve been struggling to find things that my kid will actually eat for lunch but he loves these. I used wowbutter since I didn’t have any tahini but that sounds tasty too!
