Maple Soy Salmon Skewers
Looking for a show-stopping salmon recipe? Imagine juicy grilled salmon skewers drizzled with creamy Kewpie mayo, sprinkled with sesame seeds, and finished with a kick of spicy sriracha.
These skewers are not just a dish—they’re a vibe. Whether you’re hosting a holiday party or need a quick weeknight meal, this salmon recipe is for you.
Why Salmon Skewers Are Perfect for the Holidays
The holidays are about getting together with friends and family. This dish is great for a festive holiday party or a holiday gift exchange. Deck the Christmas tree with lights, throw in a gingerbread house for good measure, and watch the holiday spirit come to life.
These grilled salmon skewers are perfect for a holiday-themed party setting because they’re easy to prep ahead of time, quick to cook, and an absolute crowd-pleaser. Get ready to be the party host with a guest list a mile long!
I love serving these as an appetizer at holiday get-togethers. The skewers are the ultimate finger food—no plates or cutlery needed. Plus, the combination of savory, sweet, and tangy flavors is festive without feeling overly fussy.
The marinade brings a little something for everyone. Maple syrup gives it that cozy, seasonal sweetness, while soy sauce and hoisin add depth.
The ginger and garlic? Pure magic. And the final garnish of Kewpie mayo and sriracha takes these skewers from “Oh, these are good” to “I need this recipe right now!”
A Versatile Salmon Recipe for Any Occasion
While these skewers shine at dinner parties, they’re also a fantastic option for weeknight dinners as a main or a side dish. Life is busy, especially during the holiday season, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice flavor. This salmon recipe is ready in under 30 minutes. Perfect for when you want something quick and tasty.
If you’re not up for braving the cold, these skewers work just as well on a stovetop grill pan or under the broiler. The result is still that delicious charred exterior with juicy, flaky salmon on the inside.
Tips for Hosting Success
- Prep Ahead: Hosting can be hectic, so make things easier on yourself by prepping ahead. Cut the salmon fillet, whisk together the marinade, and thread the skewers in advance. When your guests arrive, all you have to do is fire up the grill.
- Keep It Casual: Serve the skewers on a large, decorative party-themed platter with a little bowl of sauce on the side for dipping. Add some lime wedges for a pop of color and extra flavor.
- Mix and Match: Pair the skewers with a variety of sides. A simple green salad, roasted veggies, or even some warm crusty bread to soak up the sauce would be perfect.
- Presentation Matters: Skewers are fun and festive. You can make them even fancier by adding fresh herbs or a drizzle of extra sauce just before serving.
Why These Salmon Skewers Steal the Show
This dish is all about balance. You have the rich flavor of the salmon with the bright taste of the marinade.
The creamy mayo balances the spice of the sriracha. Plus, there’s a nice crunch from the sesame seeds. This symphony of flavors works perfectly.
But what truly makes these skewers special is their flexibility. You can scale the recipe up or down depending on your needs.
Hosting a large gathering? Double the batch. Cooking for two? Halve it. They’re easy to adapt, and they never fail to impress.
And let’s not forget the health factor. Salmon packs omega-3s and protein, so you can feel good about serving (and eating) this dish. Indulgent enough for the holidays, yet wholesome enough to keep you on track during the busiest time of the year.
Pairings to Elevate the Meal
If you’re making these grilled salmon skewers part of a larger spread, here are a few pairing ideas to round out the menu:
- Asian-Inspired Slaw: Crunchy, tangy, and refreshing—a great counterpoint to the rich salmon.
- Coconut Rice: Creamy and slightly sweet, this pairs beautifully with the marinade’s bold flavors.
- Steamed Veggies: Keep it simple with broccoli, snap peas, or bok choy for a healthy, vibrant side.
- Crispy Potatoes: If you’re leaning into comfort food, roasted or smashed potatoes would be an excellent addition.
Let’s Get Cooking
