Peach Crisp Recipe
Ah, peach season! There’s something magical about biting into a ripe, juicy peach during the peak of summer. Today, we’re diving into one of my all-time favorite summer desserts: Peach Crisp. This recipe highlights ripe peaches and is great for summer parties or as a dessert after dinner with family. So, grab your cast iron skillet and let’s get baking!
The Perfect Peach Crisp Filling
To start, we’re using 12 ripe peaches, sliced and ready to bring that fresh, sweet flavor. If you can get your hands on local peaches, even better!
Add brown sugar, vanilla, and a little cinnamon to sweeten the peaches for a cozy, warm flavor. To help thicken up the juices, we’re adding 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Mix everything in a bowl and pour it into a cast iron skillet for that rustic, homey vibe.
Pop the peaches into a preheated oven at 400°F for 10-12 minutes. This step softens the fruit and gets those juices flowing, creating the perfect base for our crisp topping. The aroma that fills your kitchen will have everyone asking, “What’s in the oven?”
The Ultimate Pecan Peach Crisp Topping
Now, let’s talk about the star of the show: the crisp topping. This is where the magic happens.
In a mixing bowl, combine ⅔ cup of melted butter with ½ cup of brown sugar. The melted butter ensures that every bite is deliciously buttery and rich. Add ½ cup of chopped pecans for a nutty crunch that perfectly complements the softness of the peaches.
To this mixture, stir in ⅔ cup of flour, 1 cup of oats, and a pinch of salt. The oats provide that classic crisp texture we all love, while the flour helps bind everything together. A sprinkle of cinnamon ties it all together with a warm, comforting touch.
Once the peaches have had their time in the oven, pull them out and generously scatter the crisp topping over them. Don’t be shy; you want a good, thick layer of that buttery, nutty goodness. Pop the skillet back in the oven and bake at 400°F for another 22-25 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when the topping is golden brown and crisp, and the peaches are bubbling underneath.
Serving Up Summer Bliss
Let the Peach Pecan Crisp cool for a few minutes before serving. It’s delicious by itself, but adding vanilla ice cream or or whipped cream makes it even better. The combination of warm, tender peaches, crunchy pecans, and that buttery crisp topping is pure bliss.
This homemade peach crisp is not just a dessert; it’s a celebration of summer. Whether you call it a peach crumble, peach crisp, or peach pecan crisp, one thing’s for sure: this dish is a must-make during peach season. This peach crisp recipe is simple to make and packed with flavor, making it a great choice for a summer dessert.
So, next time you find yourself with a basket of fresh peaches, give this peach crisp recipe a try. It’s a crowd-pleaser that’s sure to bring a taste of summer to your table. Happy baking!
