Recipe

Cottage Cheese Blueberry Muffins
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup olive oil or melted butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tbs vanilla
- 2 cups cottage cheese, blended smooth in blender
- 1/2 cup milk
- 4 eggs
- 3 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups frozen blueberries, tossed in 1 tbs of flour
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375 and prepare 2 muffin tins with liners or with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl mix together oil, sugar, vanilla, blended cottage cheese, milk, and eggs. Once smooth add in flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon. Add the blueberries to a smaller bowl and sprinkle with flour. This helps the muffins from turning purple!
- Using a large ice cream scoop or spoon, scoop the muffin mixture into the muffin tin. This recipe makes 24 medium sized muffins.
- Bake in oven for 27-33 minutes or until tops begin to brown.
- Allow to cool and enjoy with a nice cup of coffee!
Why Cottage Cheese Deserves a Spot in Your Muffins
Let’s get one thing out of the way: What does cottage cheese do in baking? Glad you asked. When you blend cottage cheese until smooth, it adds incredible moisture and richness to your batter—think the texture of Greek yogurt, but silkier and packed with more protein.
And if you’re wondering, can you taste the cottage cheese in muffins? Not even a bit. Once baked, it disappears into the background, leaving you with a creamy, pillowy texture and zero funky aftertaste.
By using whole milk cottage cheese, we’re also adding in healthy fats and key nutrients like calcium and B12. Bonus: no need for extra sweetener or protein powders here. It’s all built right into the batter.

Cottage Cheese Blueberry Muffins: Building the Batter:
In a large mixing bowl, I combine my wet ingredients—cottage cheese, eggs, avocado oil or melted coconut oil, vanilla extract, and a splash of lemon juice. This is the base of our protein-rich batter.
In a separate bowl, I whisk together my dry ingredients: all-purpose flour (you can sub with gluten-free flour, almond flour, or even whole wheat flour depending on your preference), baking powder, a pinch of salt, and a touch of soda for lift. I like to toss in some cinnamon for added warmth, too.
Then comes the magic. I gently fold the wet and dry together with a rubber spatula, being careful not to overmix. That’s key for keeping the muffins tender and fluffy.
Finally, I toss my fresh blueberries (or frozen blueberries, if that’s what you’ve got) in a bit of flour. This step helps them stay suspended in the batter so every bite is studded with that sweet, tangy pop.

Customization Is the Name of the Game
One of the best things about these blueberry cottage cheese muffins is how adaptable they are. Try coconut sugar or honey in place of white sugar. Want to change up the flavor? Swap blueberries for raspberries, or add lemon zest for extra brightness.
You can even go full snack mode by adding chopped walnuts, a swirl of peanut butter, or a few chocolate chips for good measure. Craving a banana muffins vibe? Mash in a ripe banana and reduce the added sweetener a bit.
Dairy-free? Use a coconut-based yogurt instead of cottage cheese. Still moist, still fluffy, still delicious.

Cottage Cheese Blueberry Muffins: Pro Tips
Here are a few kitchen tricks I swear by to make this recipe foolproof:
- Room temperature eggs and cottage cheese mix better and help everything bake evenly.
- Line your muffin pan with liners or grease it well. These guys tend to stick if you’re not careful.
- Fill the cavities of your muffin tins about ¾ full for a perfect rise.
- Watch your oven! Every oven is a little different. Start checking at the 20-minute mark.
- Cool completely on the counter before transferring to an airtight container for storage.
Make-Ahead Friendly & Freezer-Approved
These protein muffins are perfect for meal prep. Bake a batch and keep them in an airtight container on your counter for 2 days, in the fridge for 5 days, or toss them in the freezer for up to a month. They reheat beautifully—just give them a quick warm-up in the microwave or toaster oven.
Each muffin is balanced with healthy fats, slow-burning carbs (from all purpose flour and blueberries), and of course, that natural protein from the eggs and cottage cheese.

A Smart Start to Your Day
Whether you’re after a quick snack, a protein-powered breakfast, or a way to sneak in more nutrients for your family, these muffin recipes have your back. Each bite of these cottage cheese muffins is moist, satisfying, and layered with real flavors—no chalky protein powder needed.
They’re perfect for busy mornings, after-school cravings, or a post-gym bite. Plus, they’re fun to make with kids (especially when folding in those juicy blueberries).

Final Thoughts
If you’ve been skeptical about baking with cottage cheese, this recipe will change your mind. These cottage cheese blueberry muffins bring together comfort, convenience, and nutrition in one tidy little package.
Grab your large bowl, gather your ingredients, and get that prep time started. Once you smell that sweet, cinnamon-spiked aroma wafting from the oven, you’ll know you’ve got a new favorite.
And hey—don’t forget to stash a few in the freezer. Future-you will thank you.

My muffins went in for 25 minutes at 375 and came out looking “burnt”. Is that celsius in the recipe and if so what’s the problem here? The only thing I can think of is keep them all to the lowest rack in the oven!
Great question—and sorry to hear your muffins overbaked! The temperature listed is in Fahrenheit, so 375°F for 25 minutes is correct in most North American ovens.
A few things that could’ve caused the burnt look:
– Baking on the top or middle rack is usually best—bottom rack can lead to faster browning.
– If your muffins were smaller, they may have needed less time to .bake
Next time, try the middle rack and check them around the 18–20 minute mark. Appreciate you trying the recipe—and hope the next batch turns out better!

I made these for the first time today. They turned out perfect. I have an electric convection oven. I needed to remove from oven 8 minutes early after a toothpick check and appearing nicely browned on top. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
