How to make the viral frozen watermelon shaved ice

  1. Freeze the Watermelon: Start by cutting up your watermelon. I like to cut them like this. Place these chunks on a parchment-lined baking sheet and pop them into the freezer overnight.
  2. Shaving the Watermelon: The next day, take your frozen watermelon chunks and grab a microplane. Carefully shave the frozen watermelon over a bowl of Greek yogurt.
  3. Toppings: To elevate the flavor, add lime zest, some fresh watermelon chunks, a drizzle of honey, and a basil leaf for a hint of freshness.

Other Fruit Options for Shaved Ice

While watermelon is the star of this recipe, don’t be afraid to experiment with other fruits! Here are some ideas for you!

  1. Peaches: Juicy and sweet, peaches make an excellent alternative to watermelon. Freeze peach slices and shave them over Greek yogurt for a deliciously summery twist.
  2. Mangoes: If you’re a fan of tropical flavors, mangoes are a fantastic choice. The creamy texture of mangoes when frozen and shaved is awesome. Top with a squeeze of lime juice and a sprinkle of chili powder for a spicy kick.
  3. Pineapple: Pineapple’s tangy and sweet profile makes it another great candidate for shaved ice. Freeze pineapple chunks and shave them over Greek yogurt, then top with coconut flakes for a tropical treat.
  4. Strawberries: Picked some strawberries, perfect! Shave them over Greek yogurt and add a drizzle of balsamic reduction for a sophisticated touch.
